How to Prep Your Hair & Skin for Your Artist

The time you have with your artist in the chair is valuable. Thoughtful preparation of your hair & skin allows you and your artist to make the most of this time — it’s in the finishing steps that the beauty vision really comes to life.

Preparing Your Skin

Arrive with clean, moisturized skin. If you like a daily SPF, I use a hypoallergenic sunscreen that layers beautifully under makeup.

Avoid facial oils the night before and the morning of your services. Oils, especially on or around the eyes can interfere with longevity of your makeup.

If you have any allergies or sensitivities, please let me know in advance so I can adjust products accordingly.

Healthy, hydrated skin is the foundation of that glowing, breathable finish we’re creating.

Lashes, Lips & Touch-Ups

I use a variety of individual lashes to create a customized lash look. Waterproof mascara and professional adhesive are used to ensure longevity through tears, hugs, and the dance party.

For touch-ups throughout the day, bring:

  • Your lip balm

  • Your chosen lip colour

  • Optional powder, blush, or any products you like to refresh in your regular wear

  • Tissues and cotton swabs

Your makeup look is built to last — lip touch-ups and tear control are the basics you’ll need.
Bridal Makeup Services include a touch-up kit and lip products to pack along on your day.

Preparing Your Hair

Arrive with clean, fully dry hair — either air-dried or blow-dried. If you normally use a volumizing or root-boosting product, you can apply it before drying. If you have very thick, textured, or long hair, please let me know in advance so we can adjust timing appropriately. If you know your hairstylist books extra time for your hair, please be sure to flag this in your booking so the schedule can be accommodated.

Hair prep is essential for optimizing your time with your artist. The magic happens in finishing the look, so the less time your artist has to prep the better the vision comes to life.

Inspiration Images

For hair, reference images are important. Choose photos that reflect a similar hair colour, length, and density to your own — this helps align expectations and ensures we can create something that feels authentic and achievable for you.

For makeup, inspiration is welcome but not required. We’re known for our signature glowing skin, fluffy brows and lashes, invisible contour, blushy cheeks and lips look that has you feeling like yourself and amazing on camera. It’s our most requested look.

We ask that you avoid collecting inspiration images for hair and makeup that are AI generated. It’s not just for us, it’s for you as well. When we fixate on the perfection an AI image delivers, it sets us up for disconnect when we see our human beauty in the mirror. Images we consume shapes the way we see. We’re here to celebrate the beauty you are.

Working With Your Artist

Your time in the beauty chair is where you shift from planning and preparing to being fully present in your day.

Arrive ready a few minutes before your scheduled time, with your inspiration images on hand.

If someone is in the chair with their artist, please try to avoid questions and conversation during their services so each person in the chair can get the most of their scheduled time. This is your time for the beauty vision to come to life.

A Final Note

Beauty that reads beautifully on camera doesn’t require more makeup — it requires the right preparation, thoughtful technique, and an understanding of how skin, light, and movement interact.

Come prepared, rested and ready. We can’t wait to work with you!
